This course will address the various ways that psychology impacts the study and application of the law. The study of law is more than the study of rules, regulations, and cases but must also delve into the psychological aspects of the law.
Specific topics that will be covered include understanding the importance of having laws and the psychological approach to studying law, knowing the choices reflected in the psychological approach to the law, understanding how laws reflect the contrast between due process and crime control in the criminal justice system, and the five roles that psychologists may play in the legal system and what each entails.
