Entertainment law is a blend of various practice areas including litigation, contract law, business law, intellectual property, labor law, and at times criminal law. This course will focus on the intellectual property and ethical aspects of entertainment law. The following topics will be covered: The First Amendment and Entertainment Law, Who and What Control Entertainment Law, Basic Overview of Copyrights, Copyright Usage in Media and Entertainment, Music, Technology, and Copyright Infringement, Overview of Trademarks, Overview of Servicemarks, Celebrity Slips of the Tongue. Obscenity vs. Indecency, Reality TV, Obscenity, and Fighting Words, Defamation, Libel, and Slander, and SLAPP Suits
